"e.avril" Living Room Table In Solid Mahogany, Louis XVI Period
Artist: Etienne Avril (1748-1791)
Living room table made of solid mahogany from Santo Domingo, stamped on all sides with *E.Avril, Louis XVI period, 18th century.
Front featuring three solid mahogany drawers; fluted solid mahogany legs forming the four tapered feet, which end in cleats.
Original white Carrara marble top accented by a gilded bronze molding.(Some wear to the gilding; slight scuff marks on the varnish on one side).
Original locks operated by two keys (one of which was previously replaced).
Although the narrowness of the stanchion and successive restorations now make it possible to read only the letters "RIL," stamped three times on the left rear stanchion, this mark corresponds to the stamp of *Étienne AVRIL. The exceptional quality of the wood used, as well as the precision of the cabinetmaking, confirm and attest to this prestigious piece.
