Pair Of Mahogany Chairs With Period Petit Point Upholstery – Restored, Circa 1820–1830
Pair of mahogany and mahogany-veneered chairs, from the Restoration period, circa 1820–1830. The backs feature a wide, curved panel supported by two slightly curved uprights. They rest on four arched legs, with saber-shaped rear legs, characteristic of chairs from this period.
The seats retain their original petit point upholstery, on a blue background, featuring a floral design set within a knotted laurel wreath—a motif drawn from the neoclassical repertoire that remained very prevalent during the Restoration.
The mahogany has a beautiful color and pronounced grain, particularly visible on the backrest panels. Both chairs are in their original condition, with no recent restoration. They are sound, stable, and usable.
