The Floral Still Life antique painting presented here is a refined painting of roses, Jeté de roses, an oil on canvas painting from the 19th century.

A delicate still life with roses, captured at the moment of their fullest bloom.

In the foreground, the viewer is captivated by three splendid buds arranged on a surface in neutral and earthy tones: a rose with softly blended pink petals,

accompanied by a vibrant yellow rose and a pure white one.

In the background, the artist uses soft, impressionistic brushstrokes, creating a diffuse field of other flowers in shades of red, pink and yellow.

compositions, particularly renowned for his roses.

Achille Théodore Cesbron (1849–1913) was born in Oran, Algeria, and died in Paris. He trained in Paris at the École des Beaux-Arts, where he was a pupil

of important masters of French academic painting, including Léon Bonnat, Louis Français and Fernand Cormon.

His artistic career developed between the second half of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th century, during a period of great success for genre

painting and French floral painting.

He first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1877, beginning a long and regular presence at the exhibitions of the Société des Artistes Français.

Throughout his career, he received several distinctions, including an honourable mention in 1882, a third medal in 1884 and a second medal in 1886.

In 1889, he was also awarded a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris.

His painting is characterised by particular attention to the naturalistic rendering of flowers, the delicacy of the petals, the luminosity of the colours and

the decorative balance of the compositions. Cesbron achieved particular recognition for his representations of roses.

His work is now found in several French museums, including the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Angers and the museums of

Châteaudun and Nantes. The antique painting is presented in a gilded frame.

The antique frame and the oil painting have been carefully and professionally restored.
