The Antique Sculpture proposed here is made of Bronze metal, and represents a Wounded Lioness.
The 19th century work has its original patina. Epoch late 19th or early 20th century.
The sculptureis signed on the marble base Valton French sculptor of animals, especially felines and
of animals in general, panthers, lions and others.
Charles Valton (1851-1918) was a French sculptor of animals. The masters of this artist were
Antoine-Louis Barye and Levasseur, also 19th century animal sculptors. From 1868 he participated in the Salon de Paris and
then at the Salon Des Artistes Français, becoming a member in 1885. He received several third and second class medals.
Then he also participated in the Exposition Universelle in 1889 and 1900 where he was awarded medals.
In 1883, Valton was a professor of sculpture at the Germain Pilon school.
A bronze statue with a marble base, it is in good condition.
