Florane studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse. He began his career as an illustrator in Paris in the early 20th century, a period during which he became friends with Charles Léandre, Steinlen, and Toulouse-Lautrec.
He undertook numerous trips during which he painted scenes from Touraine, Brittany, Provence, the French Riviera, as well as Tuscany and Naples...
