Norman Blown-glass Pitcher With Twisted Ribs And A Blue Band—18th-century Folk Art
A pear-shaped, blown-glass cider pitcher featuring a pattern of evenly spaced twisted ribs; the neck is accented with a cobalt-blue band applied while the glass was still hot. The handle, made of drawn glass and partially hollow, was fused onto the vessel while hot and ends in a button-shaped bend. A trace of the pontil is visible beneath the base.
