Pair of Italian wall sconces*, made of gilded carved wood with a design of stylized foliage scrolls, dating from the early 20th century.

These sconces are in good overall condition and are very decorative.

Please note: a few very minor imperfections and a small chip (see red arrow), scratches and signs of age, soiling and stains; see photos.

*Known as “wall-mounted consoles,” these pieces are often placed against paneling, a trumeau, or between two windows or doors. During the reign of Napoleon III, consoles featuring elaborate plant motifs experienced a resurgence. (excerpt from the Larousse Dictionary of Antiques and Secondhand Goods).
