Large Gilt Mirror In The Rocaille / Rococo Style – Late 19th Century

An imposing large gilded and carved wood mirror in the Rococo taste, dating to the late 19th century.

Featuring a dynamic, shaped contour, the frame is enriched with gadrooned molding along the sides, punctuated by foliate accents and floral scrolls. The cresting is surmounted by an elaborate, pierced pediment centered with a medallion enclosing a carved winged cherub head, flanked by acanthus leaves, openwork foliage, and scrollwork. The shaped apron repeats the motif with a centered scalloped shell bracket flanked by pronounced scroll feet.
