A Victorian sterling silver salver, Daniel & Charles Houle, London, 1844
The richly shaped and molded border is embellished with scrollwork, shell motifs, and foliated details. The body rests on four feet adorned with leafy scrolls. The central mirror is entirely decorated with a burin engraving featuring basketweave motifs, alternating geometric latticework, and dense scrolling floral racemes. At the center, a heraldic coat of arms.
