A charming evocation of a lush garden: this pair of polychrome barbotine sculptures depicts two parrots perched on tree trunks adorned with foliage and small berries.

The birds assume complementary poses that bring the entire piece to life. One, standing upright on its legs, surveys its surroundings; the other gently tilts its head beneath its raised wing, captured in the act of preening. Their long tail feathers extend the composition and follow the curves of the branches.

The finely rendered plumage displays a palette of soft and deep greens, turquoise, and deep blue, punctuated by yellow ochre, creamy white, and brownish red. The glazes catch the light and highlight every contour, while the brown-toned trunks evoke the irregular texture of bark.

Around the birds, the leaves stand out in relief, the twigs cascade downward, and small plants enliven the bases. This abundance of detail creates a poetic world where animal motifs blend with the vegetation.
