Pair Of Louis XVI-style Cassolettes, Peach-blossom Marble And Gilded Bronze, Late 19th Century

An elegant pair of Louis XVI-style cassolettes in peach-blossom marble, richly adorned with chiseled and gilded bronze mounts, dating from the late 19th century. The marble features shades of pink and burgundy intermingled with creamy white patches and gray veins.

Their ovoid bodies are topped by a flared rim and a domed lid, crowned with a pinecone-shaped knob set atop a leafy wreath. Two scroll-shaped handles, accented with acanthus leaves, frame each casserole and extend along the sides.

Garlands of flowers, featuring blooming roses, unfold across the sides. The relief of the bronze elements and the brilliance of the gilding highlight the natural variations in the marble.

The lower section is set within a base featuring foliage decoration and rests on a gilded bronze pedestal, adorned with a twisted band and a cabochon border. Each dish rests on a matching marble base, square in shape with cut corners.
