Craft Table / Dressing Table In Blackened Wood With Marquetry – Napoleon III Period – 19th Century

Elegant dining table doubling as a dressing table in blackened wood, in the Napoleon III style, richly embellished with gilding, floral marquetry, and brass or gilded bronze ornaments.

The rectangular top with rounded corners features, at its center, a delicate marquetry bouquet of flowers, framed by fine gilded fillets.

The four corners are also adorned with floral motifs.

The top lifts up to reveal a compartmentalized interior made of light wood, designed to hold jewelry, sewing accessories, or toiletries.

The underside of the tray is fitted with an antique mirror, allowing the piece to also be used as a small dressing table.

The front panel features a drawer or compartment secured by a lock, highlighted by a gilded frame.

The piece rests on four tapered, fluted legs, joined by an elegant curved crossbar.

This crossbar is centered by a small decorative element topped by a pinecone-shaped ornament.

The legs and the belt are embellished with gilded metal rings and trim.
