Louis XV-style Game Table Or Pedestal Table, With A Removable Top Covered In Leather Or Crimped Fabric.

A lovely Louis XV-style fruitwood game table that can also serve as a pedestal table or side table.
It rests on four curved legs, each topped with a slender carved wooden foot.
The apron is scalloped and embellished with subtle molding.
The tabletop consists of a fixed section and a removable section.
The fixed section of the tabletop is formed by the frame, whose border features elegant beak-of-corbin molding and four rounded corners.
The central part of the tabletop (called the “bouchon”) is removable and also reversible. One side is decorated with a curled pattern, while the other is covered with brown leather adorned with a gold-colored frieze.  The edges of this section feature a groove that serves as a guide to position the chosen side.
A storage compartment is built into the rim for storing cards, games, game pieces, etc.
This piece is a beautiful, multi-purpose handcrafted item from the mid-20th century.
