Medusa is a figure from Greek mythology and one of the three Gorgons. She is depicted as a woman with snakes for hair. Her gaze was so deadly that anyone who looked directly at her was turned to stone. Eventually, Medusa was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who used her reflection in his shield so he wouldn’t have to look at her directly.
