KIS SANDOR LAJOSis a painter born in 1953 in BUDAPEST, HUNGARY He studied from 1977 to 1982 at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts,where his teachers were Simon Sarkantyu and Lajos Sváby.
In 1981, he undertook a study trip to Finland.He received the Lipót Herman Foundation Award in 1981 and was awarded the Derkovits Fellowshipbetween 1985 and 1988.
He serves on the board of directors of MAOE (Association of Hungarian Creative Artists)as well as on the board of the Hungarian Watercolorists’ Society; he is also a co-founder of the Three Questions Society and the Hungarian Painters’ Society.
He worked at the Mezőtúr artists’ colony in 1985–1986 and at the Nagykőrös artists’ colony in 1988.He has been exhibiting his works since 1983, notably at the Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle)in Budapest, as well as in Szeged, Debrecen, and elsewhere. He has also exhibitedabroadnotably in Helsinki, Prague, Rome, and Moscow. His works are included in the collectionsof the Hungarian Contemporary Art Gallery in Dunaszerdahely and theMezőtúr Art Foundation.
