Through his watercolors and illustrations, François Corbellini was one of the ambassadors of Corsica’s burgeoning tourism industry. The island’s landscapes inspired much of his work and established him as one of the leading figures of the Ajaccio School in the early 20th century.

A student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Corbellini was trained by Jean-Léon Gérôme and Gustave Moreau, whose teachings had a lasting influence on his approach to light and color.

This work comes from the collection of the painter René Barraud.
