18th-century Lyon-style Cabinet
Louis XV-era Lyon-style wardrobe in solid walnut — 18th century
A rare and imposing 18th-century Lyon-style wardrobe in solid walnut, from a château in the Lyon region.
It opens with two double-panel doors, carved at the top with curved “sheep’s bone” motifs, in the purest Lyon regional style. The upper rail is adorned in the center with a star-shaped carved rosette, while the lower rail features a finely chiseled heart. The molded cornice elegantly crowns the entire piece.
The cabinet rests on curved legs ending in scrollwork. It retains its original lock and hardware. The wood has a warm, antique patina, with beautiful variations in grain characteristic of solid walnut.
