Anzolo Fuga (Angelo Fuga) for A.Ve.M. – Murano, circa 1956
Pigeon in lattimo glass canes

Elegant hand-blown and hand-worked glass figure of a pigeon, designed by Anzolo Fuga for the A.Ve.M. – Arte Vetraria Muranese glassworks, circa 1956.

The sculpture is executed in the refined technique of lattimo glass canes, reflecting Fuga’s distinctive interest in stylised forms and innovative glass techniques during his collaboration with A.Ve.M. The highly simplified silhouette of the bird is characterised by fluid lines, balanced proportions and a delicate, luminous glass surface.

Original A.Ve.M. label present.

Anzolo Fuga

Angelo “Anzolo” Fuga was born in Murano in 1915. He studied at the Istituto Statale d’Arte Carmini under Guido Balsamo Stella, graduating in 1939 in graphic arts, design and artistic stained glass. In 1947 he opened a workshop with his brother, where they produced blown glass and artistic stained glass, an activity they abandoned in 1955.

From 1951 to 1972, Fuga taught and directed the Scuola Abate Zanetti in Murano. Between 1955 and 1960 he worked as an independent artist while collaborating with several leading Venetian glass manufacturers, most notably A.Ve.M. – Arte Vetraria Muranese.

The present work retains its original A.Ve.M. label and is documented in Marc Heiremans’ specialist reference work.
