Important brown-patinated bronze sculpture entitled The Grief of Orpheus, after the model by Charles-Raoul Verlet (1857–1923). Orpheus is depicted in a highly expressive pose, his arms raised, accompanied by his lyre and Cerberus, the guardian of the Underworld, whom he charms with his music during his quest to recover Eurydice. The sculpture rests on an imposing, richly carved veined white marble pedestal.
