An elegant and imposing Louis XVI-era wedding barometer from the late 18th century, made of carved and gilded wood.
It features a richly decorated oval frame accented by carved friezes and surrounded by intertwined laurel branches, characteristic of the neoclassical decorative style of the Louis XVI period.
The finial is particularly remarkable, adorned with two doves—symbols of Love—perched on a quiver and accompanied by a torch, the entire composition set within a wreath of foliage. This romantic iconography explains the traditional name “wedding barometer.”
