Fireplace Mantel Based On A Design By Carrier-belleuse – Late 19th Century

A brown-patinated regule fireplace mantelpiece, modeled after the designs of sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824–1887).

The central clock features a sculptural composition depicting two draped putti supporting a clock globe, forming a harmonious and richly crafted ensemble. The circular brass and enamel dial is signed “Jay, Passage Jouffroy in Paris”.

The set is accompanied by two six-light candelabra, adorned with stylized foliage and resting on fluted shafts, each supported by two putti, thus echoing the decorative style of the clock.

The base bears the signature “Carrier”, a reference to the artist whose designs inspired this composition.
