French Glass – “perlières” Decorated Bowl On A Short Stem – Charles Schneider, Circa 1924–1927
Large glass bowl on a pedestal, made of multilayered glass, signed Le Verre Français, produced by Charles Schneider.
The bowl, which flares widely, features the design known as “Perlières”, composed of circular motifs and stylized clusters in brown and burgundy that stand out against a vividly shaded background of yellow, orange, and red. The design is etched with acid, and fine engraved details enliven certain motifs.
The bowl rests on a tall baluster-style pedestal ending in a circular base, also crafted in deeply nuanced red-brown tones. This design gives the piece a very balanced and particularly decorative silhouette.
Signature “Le Verre Français” engraved with a point on the base.
The “Perlières” design is one of the Schneider factory’s iconic creations from the mid-1920s and can be dated to around 1924–1927, at the height of the Art Deco period.
In very good overall condition, with only very slight signs of wear inherent to its age.
