German 800-thousandths Silver Planter In The Neoclassical Style – Napoleon III Period

German 800-thousandths silver planter in the neoclassical style – Napoleon III period

German 800-thousandths silver planter from the Napoleon III period, accompanied by its removable silver-plated brass inner tray.

Oval and elongated in shape, the planter rests on a molded pedestal. The body features decoration in the neoclassical style, with friezes of water leaves, rows of pearls, foliage, and oval medallions. The ends are fitted with two large movable ring handles, held in place by leaf-shaped fasteners.

The decoration combines several ornamental styles characteristic of the Napoleonic III era, with a predominance of Neoclassical and Louis XVI motifs, supplemented by certain more dynamic elements borrowed from the decorative repertoire of the 18th century.

The central medallion is unengraved; the piece bears neither a date nor a coat of arms.

The 800-thousandths silver mount weighs 994 grams. With its removable silver-plated brass inner tray, the total weight is 1,758 grams.
