Artist: Jean-charles Pochon à Paris
A large impressive clock made of finely chiseled bronze gilded with mercury, mounted on a white Carrara marble base and depicting Study and Philosophy.
The two figures are based on models by the sculptor Louis Simon Boizot.
The large white enamel dial is signed “Pochon à Paris” for Jean-Charles Pochon, a clockmaker active around 1780.
The clock is in very good original condition, with the mercury gilding beautifully preserved.
The movement requires cleaning by a clockmaker; the balance wheel is missing.
