After studying at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris, he became a drawing instructor and later an artist. Close friends with the art collector and patron Camille Renault, known as “Big Boy,” he met Picabia, Lafresnaye, Léger, Delaunay, and Duchamp. His style was inspired by Braque, Cézanne, Matisse, and Villon.
