Antique Garden Bench Made Of Weathered Cast Iron And Wood, Early 20th Century
Antique garden bench in patinated cast iron and wood – France, early 20th century
An elegant and rare French garden bench from the early 20th century, notable for its beautiful cast-iron base adorned with scrollwork.
The metal frame retains a superb antique patina, where oxidation, traces of green paint, and the metal’s natural hues blend seamlessly. These signs of age have been deliberately preserved: they give the bench its character and attest to its authenticity.
The gently curved lines of the backrest and seat, combined with the particularly elegant design of the cast-iron supports, give the piece a silhouette that is at once light, decorative, and architectural.
The seat and backrest, made of long wooden slats, have been restored in keeping with the original design. The wood requires no special maintenance: we recommend letting it age naturally, without treatment, so that it gradually develops a beautiful patina over time and through exposure to the elements. Its color will thus naturally deepen, harmonizing with the cast-iron base’s existing patina.
Originally designed for outdoor use, this bench will naturally find its place in a French garden, a park, an orangery, a veranda, or a historic home.
