Hubert Bellis, 1831–1902, Belgian painter of still lifes featuring flowers and fruit. A student of François-Joseph Navez and Henri de Coëne at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He primarily painted portraits in his early career but later focused exclusively on still lifes, most often featuring oysters, fish, or fruit. Works in the museums of Amiens, Amsterdam, Brussels, Liège, Leuven, and Melbourne. The artist is listed in Bénézit, Schurr (Dictionnaire des Petits Maîtres), Arto, and Piron, and is rated on Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...

This canvas, originally mounted on cardboard, is in good condition and shows some wear around the edges.
The painting, which has never been cleaned and is only slightly soiled, is in good original condition.
