Bronze Sculpture Titled “the Ascension Of Joan Of Arc,” Signed By E. Watrin – Early 20th Century

Artist: Watrin

This bronze sculpture depicts Joan of Arc standing in a pose that is at once devoted, inspired, and resolutely turned toward the heavens.
She wears a long dress with rolled-up sleeves, a symbol of hard work. Her right arm is raised, as if to answer a divine call or converse with a higher power.
Her face is turned toward the sky, expressing spiritual elevation or unshakable faith.
At her side stands a lamb, delicately sculpted with a realistic texture, which reinforces the pastoral, humble, and sacred dimension of the scene: it evokes purity, sacrifice, and divine calling.
This sculpture blends heroism, humility, and mysticism in a balanced and expressive composition.

Etienne Watrin (–1915) was a French sculptor active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Known for his figurative bronzes and chryselephantine sculptures, he is distinguished by the refinement and academic elegance of his works.
