A significant Chinese porcelain aquarium from Canton, circular in shape and slightly flared.
Rich polychrome and gilded decoration consisting of five panels, depicting lively scenes of figures and compositions of flowers, birds, butterflies, vases, precious objects, and mythical creatures.
The interior is decorated with goldfish swimming among aquatic plants.
The borders are richly decorated with flowers and foliage, framed by Greek friezes and gilded motifs.
The underside bears a red stamp with stylized Chinese characters.
A beautiful, large decorative piece of fine craftsmanship.
