A very beautiful and spectacular 18th-century wedding cabinet in the Louis XV style. A high-quality regional piece of cabinetry crafted from solid cherry wood, featuring a very fine grain and a magnificent original golden patina.
Acquired directly from a very large estate at a château in the Médoc region of Gironde
Its monumental height of 280 cm lends it exceptional elegance and presence.
Carvings and Front: A richly carved lower transom featuring foliage scrolls and floral motifs framing a remarkable heart-shaped keyhole. Doors with wide molded and scalloped panels; curved legs with scrollwork.
Ironwork: Original, meticulously crafted wrought-iron fittings, including a scroll-cut cremone bolt, pins, a period handle, and a period lock
Construction: Traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
Condition & Details: The piece was disassembled upon purchase from the property to facilitate transport. It is sold complete with all of its original components (back panels, cornice, crossbars, doors, and ironwork).
Work Required: Replacement of wooden dowels lost during disassembly (key not included—missing), and localized treatment/consolidation on a section of moldings affected by woodworm; see photos
Overall structure is in very good condition; superb period patina.
