Curious Antique Pottery Cup With Painted Decoration

A curious antique pottery cup of rounded form with a loop handle, decorated with painted geometric designs in black, red and ochre.

The cup is obviously old, although I have been unable to establish its origin or precise purpose.

There is a small hole in the base which appears to have been deliberately made, although its purpose remains unknown.

I have listed it as 19th century, although it may be considerably earlier.

Height: 8 cm.
