Decorative plate made of black basalt, hand-carved and polished by G. Gozzani, an Italian artisan active in the 1970s and 1980s.A one-of-a-kind piece made of basalt: a dense volcanic stone with a naturally lustrous surface after polishing.
An inscription is engraved on the back:“G. Gozzani – For Recchi – 1987,” indicating a personal commission or a commemorative gift.
The reverse side shows the circular marks typical of diamond-grinding.The polished upper surface is adorned with a motif carved in relief, reminiscent of a stylized leaf.There are some slight surface scratches and small round spots that are more opaque than the rest of the surface.
