A rare pair of low armchairs known as "coin de feu," from the Louis XVI period, made of finely carved and lacquered wood, retaining their original period lacquer; likely custom-made or children’s chairs, low in height, very comfortable, with a wide seat and low backrest, a beautiful design stamped by Dupain for Adrien Pierre Dupain, who became a master craftsman in 1722; he used this “VF” mark or his “APDUPAIN” stamp
. He worked for Queen Marie Antoinette at Saint-Cloud and also for the Queen’s residence in the Hameau de Trian
