Large Walnut Mirrored Entryway Console – 19th Century
Imposing antique walnut entryway console, featuring richly carved details and fine cabinetmaking.
The upper section is centered around a large beveled mirror, framed by molded and carved posts.
The piece is equipped with numerous turned and curved wooden hooks and coat hooks, distributed along the cornice and on either side of the mirror, for hanging coats, hats, and accessories.
The middle section features a turned wooden umbrella or cane rack, while the base holds a compartmentalized zinc tray designed to catch water from umbrellas.
The lower front panel is particularly decorative, featuring a large panel with geometric relief moldings, flanked by fluted pilasters.
Carved plant motifs complete the ornamentation.
The piece rests on a wide, molded baseboard that ends in turned legs.
