This large oil painting on panel (particleboard) offers usa glimpse into the folklore and traditions of the Basque Country: in particular, we can recognize the “dance of the glass,” the Jalmalzain dancer wearing his mïtre, thefandango dancers, as well as the Basque pelota player with his chistéra. All of this takes place under the watchful eye of an elder wearing the traditional beret...and in the background, a landscape that could be the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz!
