This important pair of oil-on-canvas paintings, titled *Young Man Pouring Wine* and *Young Man Plucking a Hen*, is an emblematic example of refined genre painting by an artist from the Marche region who was active primarily in Rome.
The composition depicts a young man wearing a rustic hat who is vigorously lifting a jug to pour wine into a goblet. In front of him, on a wooden table, lies a lavish still life consisting of a plate of meat or offal accompanied by half a lemon and loaves of bread—elements rendered with remarkable realistic precision.
The second figure, distinguished by a striking red cap and a green vest over pink sleeves, is depicted in the domestic, everyday act of plucking a bird lying on the table. Both figures are looking directly at the viewer.
