Baroque Oratory - Pietà - Cross Of The Passion - Savoy - 17th Century

A Savoyard Baroque oratory made of painted wood in the shape of a niche framed by two columns and panels carved with foliage motifs and a cross. A Pietà is placed inside the niche. At the top of the oratory stands a Passion cross adorned with two Arma Christi : the pincers and the hammer. Work from the 17th or early 18th century.

Condition report : generally in good condition ; the Pietà and the cross are original. The niche’s glass pane is missing ; the polychrome paint on the panels shows natural wear. One thorn is missing from Christ’s crown. The lower part of the rear leg has been restored. Slight woodworm damage on the back of the base panel.
