Chalice and paten – Restoration period

Neoclassical-style silver chalice, crafted using repoussé and chiseled techniques, consisting of three elements joined by screws.

It rests on a circular base with an almost flat rim, adorned with three rosettes. The domed rim is decorated with a cross and features Eucharistic ornamentation consisting of ears of wheat and vine shoots within openwork frames. The shaft features an ovoid knot embellished with rushes, framed by rosary-style bands and collars. It supports a bowl gilded on the inside, flaring outward at the top.
950/1000 silver. Vieillard hallmark on the base and the cup, as well as hallmarks of the City of Paris.
No silversmith’s hallmark. Work attributed to master silversmith Gabriel Jacques André Bompart, who created several pieces intended for religious use.
The chalice is accompanied by a paten made of silver and gilded silver, engraved with the monogram IHS, surrounded by a crown of thorns.
950/1000 silver, Minerva hallmark.

The chalice is in good overall condition, with no restoration or damage. It is straight and stable, with some signs of wear consistent with its age. Note: a few nicks and a microcrack on the rim of the bowl.

The paten is in very good condition, with subtle signs of wear, and no dents or impact damage.
