Large still life of flowers, oil on canvas, late 17th century, circa 1680–1700, attributed to Giuseppe Volò, a painter active in northern Italy in the circle of Mario Nuzzi (known as Mario dei Fiori) and Abraham Brueghel.

A double composition with great decorative impact on a stone balustrade. On the left, a bronze Medici-style vase containing a rich bouquet of flamed tulips, roses, anemones, buttercups, and jasmine. On the right, a woven wicker basket with carnations and morning glories with trailing vines, a distinctive motif of the artist. In the background, a glimpse of a landscape at sunset featuring hills and ruins.

A warm and luminous color palette on a brown ground, with soft, impasto brushwork characteristic of the Roman school.

Condition: Canvas lined in an earlier period; reverse side features a central crossbar. Widespread craquelure consistent with the period; the varnish is oxidized and yellowed and requires professional cleaning. The paint layer is sound and well-preserved.
Frame: Adapted, not contemporary, made of wood and papier-mâché.
