Armchair And Pair Of Chairs, Restored In 19th-century Walnut
Restoration-period armchair and pair of chairs in walnut – 19th century
Beautiful Restoration-period set, 19th century, consisting of an armchair and two chairs in walnut.
The armchair features the elegant and understated lines characteristic of the Restoration period. Its tall, slightly sloping backrest is topped by a wide walnut band. The sweeping, gently curved armrests blend harmoniously with the front legs.
The armchair’s backrest and seat are upholstered in a fabric with a small pattern and are in satisfactory condition given their age.
The two chairs, also made of walnut and from the same period, feature an openwork backrest with three horizontal bars, topped by a curved band. They retain their straw-seated seats, adding great charm and authenticity to the set.
The three chairs rest on slender, slightly curved legs, joined by crossbars. The walnut has a beautiful, warm, light patina.
An interesting and decorative set of early 19th-century French chairs, which can be displayed together or separately.
