The Fô Dog is a traditional Chinese figure symbolizing protection, strength, and prosperity. Often placed at the entrance to temples, palaces, or homes, it is considered a protective guardian capable of warding off evil spirits and negative energies.

The Fô dog also symbolizes power and stability. It is usually depicted in pairs: the male protects the building and symbolizes strength, while the female protects the family and represents maternal protection. Their presence thus underscores the importance of balance between opposing forces.

With its imposing appearance, the dog-fô has thus become a symbol of courage, security, good luck, and protection, particularly prevalent in traditional Chinese art and architecture.
