Pair of mid-century French “Sphinx” table lamps, made of terracotta, by Maison Le Dauphin, 1970s.

The figures are gracefully posed and stand upright on a rectangular, open-pored travertine base
(18 x 9 x 4 cm).

On the back of the base is a small black and gold label bearing the inscription “Le Dauphin-France.”

The figurine features a delicate geometric pattern on the chest and head, as well as linear decorations on the wings. The face is magnificent and flawless.

The terracotta surface has a gray-green and rust-colored patina, giving it an appearance similar to that of cast bronze.

The brass arm extends upward behind the figurine and connects to the socket. The piece is complemented by a rectangular, straight Bourette silk lampshade (W 32 cm x D 17 cm x H 18 cm) in ivory, signed by Dedar, lined in white on the inside to allow light to pass through the shade.

The slightly textured silk harmonizes perfectly with the stone and the lamp, and the shape of the shade further emphasizes the simplicity of these classic pieces.

The lamp has a single socket.

These pieces are handmade and may exhibit slight variations in color, which adds to their charm.
