Empire-style Mahogany Console Table – Freestanding Columns – Black Marble – Early 19th Century

An elegant Empire-period console table, crafted from mahogany, featuring the simple yet monumental design characteristic of the early 19th century.

The front features a wide belt drawer, adorned in the center with a beautiful decorative bronze inlay.

The front posts consist of two freestanding columns adorned with bands and capitals in chiseled bronze, while the corners of the base also feature bronze ornaments with a palmette motif.

The console rests on a substantial solid crossbar, giving the piece excellent stability and an architectural silhouette typical of Empire-style furniture.

It is topped by a thick black marble top, providing an elegant contrast to the warm tones of the mahogany.

The photographs show traditional construction, notably the drawer assembled with dovetail joints, as well as a beautiful antique patina on the wood.
