In the background, the sea is visible on the left, with a blue typical of the Mediterranean. On the right, we see several shaded mountain ranges, with clouds drifting across them.

Marcel Dominique Poggioli (1882–1959) was a painter of Corsican origin who studied at the fine arts schools in Marseille and Paris. After a stay in Italy, he returned to Marseille, where he participated in various art exhibitions. He primarily painted Provençal and Corsican landscapes, took on commissions for decorative projects, and created illustrations for books. In 1921, he was appointed professor of drawing and decorative arts at the Beaux-Arts in Marseille, a position he held until 1948. At the same time, he regularly visited his studio in Ajaccio as well as his home in Southern Corsica. Several of his works are now on display at the Palais Fesch–Museum of Fine Arts in Ajaccio.
