Rare Bambara-bamana "guandoudou" Fertility Figure, Ivory Coast, Circa 1930, H 21.2 Cm

An archetype of Bambara statuary, this Queen or Mother of Fertility, with open hands laden with fruit, is not made of wood but of ivory—a material very rarely used traditionally by this people of Mali.
Is this a prestigious gift, or, more likely, a special commission from a colonist?...
Seated in a haughty and impassive pose, as if making a generous offering, she exudes strength and serenity.
She is slender and tall, with high, firm, and pointed breasts.
Her highly elaborate hairstyle, featuring a crest that falls into three delicately carved braids, is adorned with fruits and flowers.
Scarification marks frame her face with its prominent eyes, set around small, round ears.
Her genitals are clearly defined.
An old trace of attachment to a base is clearly visible beneath what appears to be a stool: a small hole and brown traces of glue.
In superb condition, with a beautiful light, polished surface, showing some normal yellowing, striations visible to the naked eye, and very fine cracks that cause no damage.
Height = 21.2 cm, Width = 4.7 cm, Depth = 5 cm
