Henri Taurel, born on July 31, 1843, in Maignelay, where he died on November 26, 1927, was a French painter.
Henri Edmond Adon Taurel was the son of Prosper Taurel, a collector of indirect taxes, and Sébastienne Élisabeth Lalo. A student of Villa, he exhibited at the Salon from 1865 to 1882. In 1875, he married Marie Augustine Refuveille in Maignelay. He died at the age of 84.
He was one of the masters of Romantic landscape painting in the early 19th century. Taurel painted genre scenes and landscapes of the Oise region, which he depicted poetically throughout his life. The artist discovered the beauty of nature through a melancholic contemplation of the world.
A mystical atmosphere: His later works incorporate Symbolist influences. His landscapes, like his depictions of marshes or woodlands, are distinguished by a mysterious and timeless quality
