Head Of A Buddha Or Bodhisattva – Gandhara, Asia
A stucco head of a Buddhist deity, showing significant traces of light red-ochre polychrome on the face. The stylized features include half-closed eyes with thick eyelids beneath pronounced brow ridges. The aquiline nose, with a gap along the bridge, sits above thin lips and a rounded chin. The hair, tinged with gray, appears textured (wavy) and is topped by a ushnisha with a rounded shape. A fine example of Greco-Buddhist art.
