Large plaster bust depicting Louis-Philippe I (1773–1850), King of the French from 1830 to 1848, in a general’s uniform with ornate fringed epaulets and decorations, including the Legion of Honor, on a square pedestal. A portrait of great finesse and remarkable attention to detail (embroidery, braids, medals), attesting to a first-rate academic sculptor.
Signed and dated 1830 on the reverse; signature partially legible. A contemporary piece from the early years of the reign, most likely part of the official production of royal busts distributed to public institutions during the July Monarchy.
