Japanese-style bowl in gilded bronze and cloisonné enamel by Maison Alphonse Giroux, Duvinage & Harinkouck period, 1867–1874
A superb and rare oval cup on a footed base with Japanese-style decoration in gilded bronze and cloisonné and champlevé enamels, crafted by the prestigious Maison Alphonse Giroux under the direction of Ferdinand Duvinage and Nicolas Harinkouck, 1867–1874
​The bowl features a rich polychrome design depicting a watery landscape with iris flowers, water lilies, a dragonfly, and a kingfisher, traversed by an ornamental band of foliage on a bright blue background.
​It rests on an exceptional base formed by three wading birds—storks and herons—in chiseled and gilded bronze serving as legs.
​On the back, the original label from the firm is partially preserved.
