Steel helmet. Helmet crest, crest finial, “Grenade”-style headband, plume holder, rosette bands, and brass-scaled chin straps, with the chin straps lined in black leather. Red horsehair crest plume, black horsehair crest with good length. Visor and neck strap lined with leather. Brown morocco leather inner lining. Scarlet cock’s-feather plume, olive-shaped tip in gilded wire. France, late 19th century, in service until World War I.
Condition: ABE, with signs of use, visible in the photos. Worn headpiece. Size 56/57 cm.
